The online marketing agency that we used was international. They seemed respectable enough, but there was no way to gauge the size of the business. They were able to send a representative to talk with us, but most of the negotiations were done over the Internet. The online marketing agency represented itself as a highly successful business, taking many of the most important high-tech customers and turning their businesses into gold. In reality, however, it was a two bit operation. They couldn't get the results they promised. Unfortunately for us, they put everything in vague wording so we could not sue them for failing to deliver.
In short, the online marketing agency robbed us blind. They were one of these fly-by-night advertising companies that changes its name to every six months. It presented an image of highly motivated professionalism, but this didn't tell the whole story. In reality, it was a pyramid scheme. The people at the bottom were completely brainwashed and the people at the top were completely ruthless. The online marketing agency increased web traffic by about 5%, but did not earn the thousands of dollars that we paid them. We probably could've done better by ourselves. This is why it is so important to research any online marketing agency thoroughly. You can't afford to take a risk with your marketing.
