After spending a summer working as a receptionist for a pain management clinic, I learned a lot about the field of medicine. Before this brief experience I had no idea that a person needed medical billing training in order to process insurance forms and complete patient payments. I assumed that this was the job of the receptionist.

I was thrilled to discover that my job consisted of making appointments, confirming that the patients would come in at a certain time and maintaining files along with answering phones and taking messages. These tasks were enough let alone worrying about processing insurance. Fortunately, my employer staffed his office with an outstanding worker who had adequate medical billing training.

This employee worked diligently in order to assure that the patients bills would be taken care of in an orderly fashion. Our patients relied on our employee for prompt attention to details on their accounts. These individuals needed the services provided by the pain management clinic and the doctor would accept nothing less than a staff member who had excellent medical billing training for his clients.

Our billing processor was one of the most important members of our staff. She may not have been recognized or even noticed by our patients but her work was greatly appreciated. Her medical billing training paid off for everyone involved, especially me. The receptionist has enough to think about without worrying about making mistakes with someones insurance and medical bills.

Right now there is a demand for these diligent employees in many different areas. Our employee liked working in the quiet atmosphere of the pain management clinic. She liked the challenges provided by this field of medicine and she liked putting her medical billing training to the test. This environment was perfect for her personality.

You may be thinking about getting medical billing training but you arent sure if you want to work in a small office. There are other environments for this kind of work as well. You can find employment in hospitals, dental offices and optometrist offices. The many settings allow you to work with your medical billing training in various environments.

Medical billing is not a dead-end position. You have opportunity to move up in the ranks within a few dedicated years. Eventually the position leads to medical coding which is a very lucrative field. Adequate medical billing training is your first step to success.
