gas mileage by Article Announcement

Getting good gas mileage from your vehicle is a concern of today's world that is not likely to go away anytime soon. Given what is going on across the world and the social and political upheaval it has caused, economic suffering should not come as a surprise. The vast majority of people in this country rely on their vehicles every day to get them through life and all the things that come with it. Whenever the gas prices rise everyday people are hit the hardest. This group of people that is most affected by high gas prices is also the same group that find it most difficult to purchase vehicles that get good gas mileage.
Although there are some vehicle manufacturers in the world that do produce economical vehicles that get good gas mileage, these car models tend to be very new and are therefore more expensive than their older, used counterparts. In 2004 I bought myself a brand new Honda Civic. My Civic gets about 30 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway. I consider this to be pretty good gas mileage although there are cars today that get numbers a little higher than that.
Some people want cars that get good gas mileage because they are concerned with environmental pollution and the rate at which we are burning through our natural resources on this planet. Other people want vehicles that get good gas mileage because the cost of gasoline has gone up dramatically in the last few years. This trend of high gas prices is not something we should expect to see go away anytime in the near future. As long as we are expending a great deal of financial and physical resources in other corners of the globe, we will not have the funds or the attention span to deal with such an endeavor.
Like many people I hope that one day we will more thoroughly explore alternative fuel sources and create vehicles that run off of less fuel. Perhaps one day American car manufacturers will spend more time and energy working on more energy-efficient vehicles. The idea of using solar power to run a vehicle should not be put to the wayside.
If we are somehow able to harness that power and advance our technology in such a way that will allow consumers environmentally friendly options we will one day reach a point where gas prices and gas mileage are no longer our concerns.
